they whispered

so I would always
remember
that when I was younger
my smile showed my teeth
and I sang the songs
of blue jays
on my birthday

and sing it in my sleep
as a reminder
that I matter

I think those two lines were my favourite. Lovely emotion throughout; the events you captured felt very personal and intimate, and the entire piece left me feeling included in some sort of secret. Great work!
